Osteopathy for Sport Injuries

Whether you are an enthusiastic amateur, an elite professional, a gym junkie or simply like to keep fit, sports injuries do occur. Many sport injuries are the result of overuse through playing too hard and too often, but occasionally incorrect equipment is the problem like ill-fitting footwear which can cause hip, knee and foot injury. Football, golf, rugby, tennis, running, skiing, dancing, and martial arts are some of the many sports that our patients compete in and come to us for treatment.

Following injuries such as:

  • neck and back strains
  • shoulder, elbow and wrist injuries
  • hip and pelvic injuries
  • knee, leg and ankle injuries.

Reduced joint or muscle flexibility will affect your performance and may result in injury if you don’t realise that you can’t perform at your usual level.

If you do become injured, an osteopath is highly trained to facilitate a return to optimal function and prevent compensatory strains from occurring. This will minimise re-injury and allow a quicker return to physical activity.

Osteopathic treatment involves safe, gentle and effective manual techniques, if appropriate, including soft tissue stretching, passive resisted stretches, mobilisation, inhibition, trigger point release and manipulation, together with advice on rehabilitative exercises. These techniques assist in improving elasticity, strength, endurance, mobility and performance.

Treatment is helpful as part of pre-event training to minimise injury, and post-event to encourage tissue repair and can ensure that your recovery time is minimised.

If you have any questions about a particular sports injury and whether osteopathy can help, please contact Oliver (Registered Osteopath) at the clinic in Tel Aviv on 054-987-5789 now.
